Originally from Abernethy, Saskatchewan, Kent attended High School in Balcarres and moved away in 1993 upon graduation. He graduated from the University of Saskatchewan’s College of Commerce and was employed in the investment and insurance industries during the early stages of his career. He has previously completed the Canadian Securities Course and the Saskatchewan Insurance Council’s licensing courses. Kent began mortgage brokering in 2001 and has been part of the DLC national franchise network since 2007. He has consistently ranked among the top 50 mortgage brokers across the country with Dominion Lending Centres. Kent’s financial background allows him to assess clients’ overall financial situation and make recommendations based on more than “just your mortgage”.
Outside of the office, Kent is active in his local charitable, sporting and social communities. Kent has recently served on the committee with the local Bikes for Kids initiative, helping to raise funds for local underprivileged youth. He is active in golf as a member of the Royal Regina Golf Club and recreational hockey with a couple of teams in Regina. Kent has previously served on the Board of Directors with the Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame and the Highland Curling Club. He enjoys staying active with physical fitness through running and individual / group fitness training. He has competed several half marathons as well as been a participant in adventure races including the Canadian Death Race and the Tough Mudder Challenge. Kent has one son, Isaak, who also resides and works in Regina.
